February 9, 2025 Pepper hoards toys

Pepper hoards toys in her crate and if I put them away in the toy box she immediately runs to grab them and put them back in her crate. She is definitely looking for a home with a big box of dog toys.

February 7, 2025Pepper is a huge fan of toys and loves to grab one to carry around.

February 4, 2025Looking for a calm home ready to socialize and continue training.

Pepper has been with us for two weeks and has been an easy guest.  She has only had accident in the house and that was due to human error.  She has the routine down and knows when we play and when we rest.  She enjoys toys, especially stuffed ones and will carry a toy or ball in her mouth.

She is quite sound sensitive and is very reactive to loud noises.  When I take her outside on a leash she gets panicky and reactive to all motion and noise.  She rides well in a crate in the car and is quiet but is obviously nervous.  In the fenced yard she is much happier and bounces around, chasing balls and soliciting play. She was spayed last week and was good but scared at the veterinary clinic.  Pepper is still working on learning not to jump up and her foster Mom is trying to get her timing right to train her.  She prefers to be in the yard with a person rather than alone or with the other dogs.

Our Corgi thinks he owns all the stuffed toys and she is very wary of him and avoids him when possible.  Miss Pepper has finally notice the cats and will bark and bounce at them when she sees them.  The cats are not fans of this behavior.  She might be okay with a cat that would stand up to her but a shy cat will probably not care for her behavior.  Pepper is a sweet girl who needs continued socialization and training to thrive.

January 29, 2025Romping and Adjusting

Pepper is settling into her foster home and is enjoying a romp in the sun and watching the goats.

January 18, 2025Pepper arrives to foster care.

The shelter transported Pepper to our animal hospital for the drop off. She is sweet and shy. She warms quickly and seems to be fine with handling. She has an upper respiratory infection so we started her on meds right away.

Her foster mom brought her home to meet the Border Collie pack. She is definitely interested in the goats we have fenced in the side yard. We are keeping her on a long line to start. She seems to be fitting into the routine pretty well. She road great crated in the car. Such a cute petite girl.

The shelter that was caring for Pepper noticed she was stressed in the kennel environment so they reached out to the rescue for assistance. They let us know she is 5 years old, not spayed, and heartworm negative.

Here is a video and two photos we received of Pepper from the shelter showing us she is a beautiful, sweet Border Collie.
