Return to Our Foster Dogs

Blue – Adopted

You must complete an adoption application with WBCR before we will consider you for one of our Border Collies (under the “adoption” link). Then go to our PayPal link to pay the $15.00 application fee. One of our volunteers will check your references, and then another will come to your home to meet you & your family in person before the board will vote on your application. If you are approved, we will arrange a time for you to meet the dog(s) you are interested in. If you decide he/she is perfect for you and the board agrees, we will schedule a day for you to pick up your Border Collie, sign adoption paperwork, and pay the $350 minimum adoption donation. This whole process may take a month or more, as all WBCR members are volunteers and we’re committed to making a perfect match for our border collies. Thanks for your patience!

ADOPTED!!!!

Blue is an almost one year old purebred spayed female. She comes to rescue after spending the beginning of her life living outside in a kennel with her two litter mates. Despite a lack of early training and socialization she is a pretty well adjusted girl.

She enjoys ball games and “herding” her foster brother while he chases the ball but doesn’t seem particularly interested in wrestling with our pack. In house she settles well and is content to grab a Nylabone to chew. I find this impressive in a young dog who hasn’t had much of any training.

She has been great about going potty outside and seems to have learned the “go potty” command.

She has gotten quite reliable with her recall and her sit command. We have been spending several short sessions a day working on “leave it”. She is quite obsessed with our cats and we are concerned that she might one if she caught them.

Blue enjoys most people and adores many of them. My teenage daughters are definitely on her list of people she adores. She loves to cuddle with them and comes running when they get home.

Miss Blue barked for several hours in her kennel the first night she was here but now with the kennel in our bedroom, she sleeps quietly all night.

Blue rides well in the car and really likes to go along for a ride.

We are still working on leash manners. She likes walks a lot but has a tendency to wrap herself around your legs.

Blue is extremely athletic and quick on her feet. She learns quickly and seems to want to please you. She might make a nice sport dog or even a herding dog (her daddy was an imported working dog).
