DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS WE CURRENTLY HAVE, WE’VE PUTTING A FREEZE ON NEW APPLICATIONS UNTIL APRIL 15TH (SO WE CAN HOPEFULLY CATCH-UP). THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!
Dear Potential Adopter,
We at Wisconsin Border Collie Rescue are committed to finding the most appropriate homes we can find for our dogs. Most of the dogs in our care are here simply because their owners could not “deal with” them acting like a Border Collie. Owning a Border Collie is a wonderful experience but it also requires a good deal of time and energy. Border Collies are NOT content to just to play in the yard (no matter how big it is). It has been said that “Having a Border Collie isn’t just owning a dog, it’s accepting a lifestyle”. We have found this to be true and hope to place our dogs with people who truly understand this. If you are unsure about a Border Collie fitting into your family, just ask. We would be more than happy to give you more information. You can also check our links for more information on the Border Collie lifestyle!
If you have done the research and have a lifestyle that will work well with a Border Collie please submit this application and take the first step towards adopting from WBCR.
If you are in the Midwest US (approximately a 200 mile radius of Milwaukee), feel free to fill out this application.
If you are from elsewhere in the US or Canada we request that you start by contacting a rescue closer to you.
If you are interested in a specific dog of ours, please let them know about the dog and where you saw him/her.
Try this link – It is a national directory of BC rescues – www.bcrnd.org
Please fill out ALL fields or the form may not work.
Please review your application for accuracy. We are volunteers donating our time to this very worthy cause and time spent tracing incorrect phone numbers, email addresses, etc. is time we could be using to help homeless Border Collies.
You must complete an adoption application with WBCR before we will consider you for one of our Border Collies (under the “adoption” link). One of our volunteers will check your references, and then another will come to your home to meet you & your family in person before the board will vote on your application. If you are approved, we will arrange a time for you to meet the dog(s) you are interested in. If you decide he/she is perfect for you and the board agrees, we will schedule a day for you to pick up your Border Collie, sign adoption paperwork, and pay the $250 minimum adoption donation. This whole process may take a month or more, as all WBCR members are volunteers and we’re committed to making a perfect match for our border collies. Thanks for your patience!
PLEASE NOTE: We may have several potential adopters interested in the same dog. We do not hold dogs for anyone. It is possible that an approved adopter may adopt the dog you want before you’re completely through the process. However, once you’re approved, you’re approved for 1 year, and it’s possible that a dog in the near future could be the match for you. We work for the dogs, so as soon as there’s a good, approved match, we will adopt out the dog. Thank you for understanding.
Incomplete applications will be returned to you.
If the form does not work, there is a field that needs to be completed.
Please be sure that the fields contain something.
We reserve the right to refuse any applicant.
Thank You WBCR
