As is the case with breed rescue groups across the country, there are so many dogs that need a home and far too few foster spaces to take them in. The following dogs are courtesy listed to help an owner rehome their dog. The dogs listed here are NOT part of WBCR and the adoption is a private adoption with the owner, NOT WBCR.

We are searching for retirement homes for two of our longtime working border collies, Rudy and KC. Both boys have spent their lives working and are now looking for patient, understanding homes where they can enjoy a quieter pace and plenty of love.
Rudy will be 12 in July and is a social, ball-obsessed dog who absolutely loves people. He has excellent obedience, is house trained and crate trained, and still enjoys being active despite some arthritis. Rudy would much rather play fetch than cuddle and thrives with structure and engagement. He can live with other dogs in the right experienced home, but does have resource guarding behaviors around things he values and needs thoughtful management. Because of arthritis, we are looking for a home without very young children. His medical needs are currently straightforward and affordable to maintain.
KC will turn 12 in October and is a sweet, sensitive dog who bonds very closely with his people. He loves toys, car rides, and especially large herding balls, and he can be extremely affectionate once comfortable. KC does best in quieter environments and can become anxious in crowded or busy settings. He may need patience while adjusting to home life and continued work with house manners. KC can also be challenging with other dogs at times and would do best with experienced handling and structure. He additionally has ongoing gastrointestinal and liver support needs that require prescription food and supplements.
Neither of these boys is a “beginner” dog, but both deserve loving retirement homes where their quirks are understood and their years of service are appreciated.

- We require that all dogs listed have all vaccinations up-to-date.
- The information that we have on these dogs is from the owner, shelter, or individual who has found and is caring for the dog. When photos are available, we will post them with the dog.
- If you are interested in one of these dogs, we have included the name and contact information for the caretaker/owner. It is up to you to check out the dog & make arrangements. Do not complete an adoption application through WBCR to adopt one of these dogs.
- We are not responsible for these dogs as they are not in our rescue. We do not warrant these dogs, their temperament nor their health, nor do we know anything about them other than what the owners/shelters/caregivers have told us. All potential adopters should thoroughly investigate any dog that they are interested in.
- WBCR does not charge an adoption fee for these dogs. Fees may be negotiated with the shelter or family housing the dog.
